The Cenotaph Tile

The cenotaph in Victoria Park, Widnes was erected in 1920.

A plaque on the Cenotaph reads.

Erected by the citizens of the Borough of Widnes in commemoration of the men of this place who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War 1914-1919.

This foundation stone was laid August 28th 1920 by the Mayor Alderman Edwin Wood.

The memorial consists of an obelisk set upon a stone plinth. it was built from York stone (known for it's durable and hardwearing qualities ) and and measures approx 50ft in height.
